New shelves…and Target frustration

27 Aug

OK, I mentioned renovation pictures the other day (oops, that was actually a week ago), but here you go. MJD did all the work, and I watched and tried to be helpful. The biggest success for sure are the shelves he replaced in the dining room. The previous owner had glass shelves that were kind of green tinted…? They didn’t really fit, so we were scared to use them, and as you all know that is a recipe for clutter and trash! Like a clutter drawer. Those glass shelves became home for extra nails, receipts, mail.

So, earlier this month, I went out with some friends and MJD said he was going to have new shelves cut at the hardware store. I expected some wood shelves that we could use, but when I got home that afternoon, he had cut shelves, attached a curved edge to the front of the shelves, and painted them yellow. WHAT?! I know! He was already almost done painting when I got home.

He is a good man.

New shelves!

New shelves!

They match the dining room!

We also hung these cheap target shelves in our bathroom – but one already fell. Sometimes I lose a little love for Target. This was one of those times. Cheap can occasionally just be cheap (ie. not a good deal when it breaks in 24 hours).

There were three...now there are two

There were three...now there are two

I’d be fine with two shelves, but now we have to fill the holes in the wall and paint over them…deep, frustrated sigh!

Can he come over and do stuff around our place? My darling husband isn’t nearly as handy. I’m not sure he wouldn’t know what it means to “have new shelves cut at the hardware store.” Sigh.

haha! I’m sure he will become a handyman now that you’re married. It’s part of the job!
