Steps to a beautiful home

31 Oct

Painting is hard. I kind of thought it would be fun. It was fun at first, and fun to accomplish something. But mostly I see why my parents always paid someone to do it!

Here is a brief overview of our first time painting:

Step 1. Spend way too much time and money at the hardware store.

Step 2: Moving the beautiful, but heavy furniture your in-laws so graciously donated to your new home.

Step 3: Cover everything in the bedroom before you start painting. Paint drips. It can ricochet off the wall at the worst moments. It can ruin rugs that you don’t have the money or inclination to replace.

Step 4: Don’t give up when it takes FOREVER to cover everything in plastic.  This is such an annoying process.

Step 5: Blue Tape. ARRRRGGGGHHHH. Spend way too much time on your knees (securing blue tape to the floor molding)

Step 6: Paint, dry, paint, dry, blue tape on different areas, paint, dry, continue over three days…

Here is a picture of our bedroom all prepped and ready for the paint.

And, a final look at our poor, naked window with no molding.

I will post the pictures of our newly painted room tomorrow. Suspense is good for you.
