Do something fun! I hope to enjoy some wine, mountains, and sun with my hubby and dog…maybe I’ll see you at our local Virginia vineyards!
Sept. 2009 trip
Last time we went to a local vineyard was our anniversary weekend in September – and I had just gotten my wisdom teeth removed! It’s been too long. One of the best things about DC is how many day trip options there are – and I know that MJD and I don’t take enough advantage of the area. I’m sensing a trip to Rock Creek Park next weekend (or maybe we should do that tomorrow instead!).
Also, keep your fingers crossed for me on Monday when I start a new job! I’m trying to be chill about the whole thing, but any positive vibes Monday morning would be greatly appreciated! The more I think about it, the more I lean toward the wine this particular Saturday!
For our first anniversary, MJD and I decided to take Artie and spend the afternoon in Virginia at a dog-friendly winery. I had just had my wisdom teeth removed, so I couldn’t really eat and didn’t feel up to much. Bad timing!
But we pushed forward with our scaled back plan, and went to Barrel Oak Winery for the afternoon. The winery is dog-friendly, serves food, has picnic tables, and offers a beautiful view. Artie was not on his best behavior, and needed to sniff every adult, child, and dog, but we had a great time. We even got play with a labradoodle puppy that looked just like Artie!

It’s so nice to have such a beautiful spot so close to the city! I’ve become a Virginia fan (at least to visit)!
Wow, last week was rough, the weekend was so busy, and this week is already high stress. And it’s not even noon. All I can say is, AT LEAST IT’S TUESDAY (as in NOT Monday!).
I am giving myself today to be annoyed, but then tomorrow is MJD’s 30th! And we are going for a fancy dinner on Thursday. And my parents are coming for a visit this weekend. That’s a pretty wonderful week, so I need to increase the coffee in take and find myself a good mood. Maybe the gym will help. We have to force ourselves to go tonight!
Ok, on to nicer topics, I am uploading pictures from our anniversary day trip to Virginia wine country a few weeks ago. For those of you who have never been, it’s worth the trip. I can’t speak to the caliber of wine, but the country side is beautiful, and it’s such an easy and relaxing day away. You feel like you’ve gone more than an hour away for sure. Pics coming shortly!
Did I mention we were in Cincinnati on Sunday? GO Bengals! And man I love that Graeter’s ice cream!
